Girls Lacrosse Wins Thriller Against Irvine

Woodbridge 10, Irvine 9:  The Warrior Girls Lacrosse team won a hard fought contest with Irvine High Monday afternoon, 10-9, at Irvine Stadium.

Trailing 2-0 after four minutes of play, the Warriors built a 5-3 halftime lead only to see those gains quickly evaporate in the second half.

Trailing by two goals with four minutes to play, the Warriors clawed their way back.  Junior Patricia Tam won a draw from sophomore Sage Klemek and worked the ball to junior Amanda Jaramillo to cut the lead to one.  The subsequent draw led to a beautiful dodge and shot by Klemek to tie the score with two minutes left to play.

Possession tilted to Irvine off the next draw, but a clutch save by senior goaltenderVeronika Tsymbler created an opportunity for the Warriors.

Junior Anna Takushi completed a hat trick for the game by hammering home the go ahead shot with under a minute to play.

The final seconds were a mad scramble for the ball, with the Warrior defense, completing one of its strongest efforts of the year, holding up against Irvine's last attacks on goal.

The win moves the Lady Laxers to 3-0 in city play and 8-4 on the season.  There are many games ahead on the upcoming schedule.  We hope to see you out there supporting your Warrior Lacrosse team!
